Diana “Dottie” Windholz, 82, Hays, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Hays to Ben M. and Agnes Louise (Younger) Rupp. She was a 1951 graduate of Hays High School.

She married Delmar A. Windholz on June 16, 1952, in Hays. He preceded her in death May 8, 2011. She enjoyed telling people she worked for 38 years, 8 months, and a day for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., first as an operator and later as a clerk.

She was very generous and faithful, enjoyed her family and working outside in her flower garden. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, the Telephone Pioneer Club and the Prairie Garden Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth (Windholz) Dreher, Hays; a sister, Melvia Jane Leiker, Hays; two grandchildren, Andrea Lynn Baker, Wichita, and Garret Baker and wife, Emily, Cedar City, Utah; a sister-in-law, Viola “Ollie” Rupp, Hays; and many nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles M. Rupp; a brother-in-law, Donald W. Leiker; and two nieces, Deborah Ann Marie “Debbie” Rupp and Kayla Augustine.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Friday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601.

A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
