The first MIAA honors of the season rolled in for the Fort Hays State University volleyball team after a 4-0 weekend in Denver where the Tigers swept all of their matches.

On Monday, the conference named Mallory Flagor, a senior rightside hitter from Hoisington, the conference’s hitter of the week for her strong showing.

Flagor recorded 50 kills against six errors in the Tigers’ four wins on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers picked up a pair of wins against tournament host Johnson and Wales and also topped York College (Neb.) and Benedictine-Mesa (Colo.).

The match against York was arguably Flagor’s finest. She finished with nine kills on 13 attempts without committing an error, hitting 692. She hit better than .400 in each match.

Flagor’s 151 kills is four behind Crystal Whitten for the team lead.

The Tigers are 8-4 after the weekend and begin their conference schedule at 7 p.m. tonight at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
