James H. “Jim” Zordel, 59, Russell, died Friday, June 24, 2016, from a motorcycle accident while enjoying an evening ride on Pioneer Road, south of the Smoky Hill River.

He was born Dec. 12, 1956, in Russell to Edgar L. and Irma (Kohler) Zordel. He grew up in Russell and attended Russell Public Schools.

He married Catherine F. Mauro on June 19, 1976, in Russell. He worked for White Energy in the maintenance department for 10 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Amber Mask, Russell, and Angela Zordel, Bennington; a brother, Donald Zordel, Baldwin City; a sister, Carol Thomas, Bailey, Colo.; his ex-wife Catherine Pasek, Russell; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; cremation will follow services.

Guest book will be available for friends and family to sign from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Zordel Grandkids Education Fund in care of the mortuary.
