Reba Jean Mullen, 96, Hays, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Hays Good Samaritan Society.
She was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Civit, Okla., to Henry C. and Cora B. (McWilliams) Morehead. She was a graduate of La Crosse Rural High School.
She married Laurence E. Mullen on Oct. 30, 1938, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1969. She was a secretary for the Soil Conservation District in La Crosse for many years, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hays, the First United Methodist Women Esther Circle, was active in her church, and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at Hadley Hospital.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, James Mullen and wife, Ruth, Hays, and John Mullen, Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter, Carole Probasco and husband, George, Hays; eight grandchildren, Jill Waltemath, Jennifer Bull, Wes Mullen, Scott Mullen, Erin Mullen, John "Kaleo" Mullen, Shelly Mullen and Jacob Mullen; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elaine Mullen.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Hays; burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Hays Good Samaritan Society in care of the funeral home.
