WaKEENEY -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian wrestling team competed Friday in the MCL Round Robin at WaKeeney.

The Monarchs' Tucker Rhoades finished second at 126 pounds, falling 13-6 to Smith Center's David Hileman in the championship match.

Ricky Hockett finished third at 132 pounds, defeating Phillipsburg's Zach Davis in the third-place match.

Defending 3-2-1A state champion Norton had four top finishes in the event, which concludes the first semester portion of the season.

Ryan Johnson won at 106 pounds, Trenton Wright at 132, Mike Kasson at 152 and Gavin Lively at 182.

At 113, Ellis' Bryce Younger defeated Norton's Skylar Johnson, 4-2, and Ellis' Dalton Hensley took first place at 138 with a 9-5 decision against Hill City's Gabe Hamel.

Phillipsburg's Luke Jacobs pinned Norton's Jacob Green in 2 minutes, 56 seconds for first place in a rematch of last year's 220-pound third-place match at state.

Phillipsburg's Connor Boxler took first at 285.

Smith Center took three golds. In addition to Hileman, Colton Hutchinson won at 120 and Brody Frieling at 160.

Plainville's Devon Mick won the title match by forfeit at 170 pounds, and Oakley's Wyatt Murphy defeated Plainville's Trevor Houser for first place at 145 pounds.
