Ruthetta R. Irvin, 91, La Crosse, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse.
She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Otis, to Benjamin and Susanna (Brack) Brack.
She married Chester E. “Chet” Irvin on July 24, 1946 at Alexander. He preceded her in death Feb. 14, 2000.
She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, a 1942 graduate of Alexander High School. She received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in administration from Fort Hays Kansas State College. She was a teacher and principal for more than 50 years before her retirement.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alexander and La Crosse and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hays Chapter No. 228.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis Irvin and wife Arlene, Manhattan; Galen Irvin and wife Jennis, Winfield; Don Irvin and wife Dena, and Kellye Irvin and wife Sandy, all of La Crosse; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren and two sisters, Donna Schadel and Alice Brozek, both of Great Bend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Vernon Brack, Bill Brack, Lloyd Brack, and Norman Brock.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, La Crosse. Interment will be in the McCracken City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Church visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, La Crosse.
Memorials are suggested to the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse or the United Methodist Church, La Crosse, in care of the funeral home.
