EL DORADO -- The Hays Larks swept a three-game road series from the El Dorado Broncos this weekend. The Larks, behind a three-run homer from Aaron Cornell, won Saturday's contest, 4-1, and took Sunday's game, 8-3 when Ethan Leiter hit two homers. Saturday's game was called after the eighth inning because of weather, and finished prior to the start of Sunday's series finale.

In Saturday's contest, El Dorado scored a run in the sixth, but Hays tied the game with a run in the eighth and scored three in the ninth. The Larks' pitching staff didn't allow an earned run. Jorge Guarneros worked six innings, allowing five hits and one run (no earned) with seven strikeouts and three walks. Nick Goza worked two innings for the victory and Michael Burchett picked up the save. Hays tied the game in the eighth on a pair of walks to Cornell and Sean Wilson. The duo then stole second and third. Cody Gougler was intentionally walked and Mackenzie Handel drove a run-scoring single.

In the ninth,Leiter singled and Tito Andino was hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice, Jon Ryan reached on a force out, but Leiter was out at home. Then, Cornell hit a three-run homer for the final runs.

In Sunday's contest, Andy Lewton worked six innings and allowed two runs on two hits with five strikeouts against three walks. Justin Ziegler picked up the save. Leiter hit a solo shot in the fifth and blasted another homer to lead off the seventh. Cornell also went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Hays scored one run in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
