Fort Hays State University junior Rob Davis was named the MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Davis averaged 30 points per game in a pair of wins over Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma. In an 84-74 win over Northeastern State on Thursday, he scored a team-high 24 points and hit four three-point field goals.
On Saturday, in a 91-74 win over Central Oklahoma, Davis scored a career-high 36 points and went 8 of 10 from beyond the three-point line and 13 of 18 overall from the field. The 36 points matched the most scored by a Tiger under head coach Mark Johnson, tying teammate Craig Nicholson who had 36 in a game in 2014.
The eight three-point field goals in a game tied for third-most in school history, just one shy of the school record of nine. Davis finished 22 of 32 (68.8 percent) from the field, 12 of 18 from the three-point line for the week. Davis added 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game with his 30-point average.
