Chester Allen Dinkel, 54, Ellis, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born March 8, 1961, in Hays, to Fred and Catherine “Katie” (Flax) Dinkel. He was a 1979 graduate of Ellis High School.

His working career was working various jobs in the oilfields.

He was a member of St. Mary Church in Ellis.

He enjoyed being a father to his twin daughters, playing horseshoes, pinochle and gardening. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his faithful companion, Shilo.

Survivors include two daughters, Star and Sky Dinkel, both of Ellis; a stepson, Austin Chambers, Hays; five brothers, Harold Dinkel and wife, Carol, Ellis, Edward Dinkel and wife, Kathy, Assaria, Henry Dinkel and wife, Janice, Sharon Springs, Fred Dinkel and wife, Coleen, and Steven Dinkel and wife, Laura, all of Ellis; six sisters, Virginia Weigel and husband, Charlie, Eufala, Okla., Marilyn Denning and husband, Clarence, Colby, Helen Fischer and husband, Henry, Vera Haver and husband, Wayne, Bernadette Dinkel, and Margie Mickelson and husband, Bob, all of Ellis; 47 nieces and nephews; and 85 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mike and Fred Jr.; and two sisters, Bernice Dinkel and Kathleen Blake.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 East 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.

A vigil/rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Star and Sky Dinkel Education Fund, in care of the funeral home.
