The Hays Police Department on Friday announced a series of promotions and the graduation of new new recruits from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson.

The new recruits were Nolan Weiser and Samantha Nielsen. They graduated on Friday.

The promotions were made by Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler.

Clayton Hill was promoted Friday to the rank of patrol sergeant. Hill has been a member of the department since 2006, previous serving as a patrol corporal.

During his tenure with HPD, Hill has served as a patrol investigator, a member of the bike patrol, a field training officer and assistant team leader for the Special Situation Response Team.

David Gillan and Cody Wolf were both named patrol corporals, positions that had opened up as a result of Hill’s promotion and the appointment of Tim Greenwood as a lieutenant.

Gillan started his law enforcement career with the Dodge City Police Department and has been a member of the Hays Police Department since 2014. Gillan has served as a bike officer, a field-training Officer and a member of the SSRT.

Wolf started his law enforcement career with the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and has been a member of the Hays Police Department since 2012. Wolf also is a member of the SSRT.
