NORTON According to multiple sources, law enforcement officers are searching for an alleged gunman in the Norton County vicinity.

Sources are reporting multiple shots fired, and the search for the alleged shooter is continuing.

There was no immediate word on possible victims. Law enforcement in Norton was alerting residents to be on the lookout for anything suspicious and to keep their doors locked until the situation ended.

Multiple agencies were called to assist in the situation, and air resources from the Kansas Highway Patrol were called to aid in the search for the suspect.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Friday, law enforcement were continuing to tell people to avoid traveling west on U.S. Highway 36 leading out of Norton while officials continued to search the area.

The search is continuing into Decatur County, where law enforcement reported they did fire a shotgun at the pickup. Officials were unsure if the shot hit the vehicle, but it did not stop it if it did.

The situation began in Norton near the city's pool, according to police officials.
