Dean Wilbur Voos, 85, Russell, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at Hays Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 7, 1930 in Russell to John O. and Ophelia A. (Dumler) Voos.

Dean served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Eleonore L. Lauster on March 1, 1952, in Stuttgart, Germany. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2009. He worked in the oil field.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Voos, Russell, and John Voos, Austin, Texas; two daughters, Connie McMillen, Mesa, Ariz., and Tammy Krug, Russell; companion Dorothy Funk, Russell; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell; burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery with Russell V.F.W. Post 6240 Honor Guard conducting military rites.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Russell V.F.W. Post 6240 or St. John Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
