Handing out employee service awards topped the agenda at Monday’s Ellis County Commission meeting. Several employees and volunteer firefighters were recognized for their years of service to the county.
“Thank you. We really appreciate your service,” Commission Chairperson Barbara Wasinger said at the conclusion of the awards presentation.
The longest-serving employees were recognized for 35 years of service.
Monday’s meeting was brief, with much of the meeting spent in executive session to discuss potential property acquisition. No action was taken after a total of 30 minutes in closed session.
Other agenda items included accepting financial reports for the county’s townships and the county’s January financial report. The county’s sales tax receipts saw an increase in January, with a total of nearly $265,000 received. That’s up from the approximately $248,000 collected in December.
