Robert “Bob” Barnhart, 75, La Crosse, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016.

He was born March 25, 1940, in Wichita to Bill and Helen Barnhart. He graduated from Wichita North High School, attended Wichita State University and graduated from Park College with a degree in economics.

He was a U.S. Army. He entered the service in February1962 and attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Okla. Upon completion of OCS he became a second lieutenant. His first duty station as a young officer was in Fort Riley. He did two tours in Vietnam, and spent a year in Korea and a tour in Germany. He later returned to Fort Riley twice. His final tour was at Fort Riley after 24 years of honorable service to his country. After retirement. he held a couple of positions.

He enjoyed hunting and serving in his church, North Oak Community Church in Hays.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Karen Barnhart; three daughters, Katy Barnhart, Maggie Barnhart and Betsy Barnhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were Friday at John M. Ireland Funeral Home Chapel, Moore Okla.; burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Veteran’s Cemetery, Fort Riley in Manhattan.
