The Ellis softball team picked up a 15-0, three-inning win Monday in its first-round game of the Class 2-1A regional in Lincoln. The Railers had eight runs in the first inning, then two in the second and five in the third to set the run-rule, and advance to today’s 4:45 p.m. semifinal against Salina-Sacred Heart.
Brittany Bollig had six hits and drive in five runs, while Skyler Gottschalk had three RBIs. Gottsschalk took the win with three strikeouts for the Railers (9-10).
The Railer baseball team fell short in its comeback attempt against Spearville in the semifinals of its 2-1A regional at Dodge City. Rallying from what was a 3-0 deficit, the Railers fell 4-3 to end their season at 10-7. Ellis had three errors in the game, but outhit the Lancers, 10-7.
Brandon Bollig took the loss. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits with 12 strikeouts to just one walk.
