Marines of the Edwin A. Schumacher Marine Corps League, Detachment 740, Hays, will participate in Toys for Tots from Friday to Sunday inside the Hays Walgreen's Store, 27th and Vine. Toys can be purchased at Walgreens or brought in and dropped off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Commandant of the Marine Corps League Bob Munsch said he believes the league of Marines are excited to be a sponsor this year.

Toys for Tots first began in 1947 by a Marine Corps Reserve unit and is now a registered trade mark of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The idea is to bring hope and brighten the minds and hearts of many children who live with poverty not knowing how true the Christmas spirit can affect a child's life.

The Marine Corps League will participate along with S&W Supply Co. Inc., who has been a strong sponsor for many years with 73 locations to date. Marines were invited for the Frost Fest parade's Toys for Tots float which will be Dec. 6 sponsored by S&W.
