Jeanette (Dechant) Misegadis, 71, Peyton, Colo., formerly of Hays, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was born April 8, 1945, in Hays to Cornel and Ursula (Legleiter) Dechant. She was a 1963 graduate from Schoenchen High and attended Beauty School in Hays.

She married Melvin J. Gabel and shortly thereafter opened her own beauty salon, Fashion Flair, in Hays which she operated for over 10 years. She later married Dennis Misegadis on April 26, 2011, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She later worked for Wal-Mart in Garden City and Phoenix.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for many years.

She enjoyed dancing, music, crafting, gardening, mountains, car races, and rescuing animals.

Survivors include her husband, Peyton; her three children from her first marriage to Melvin J. Gabel, Salina, Ursula (Gabel) Baird and husband, Kevin, Los Angeles, and Cory Gabel and wife, Donna, Simsbury, Conn., and Jessica Gabel Cino and husband, Ryan, Atlanta; two brothers, Virgil Dechant and wife, Ann, Leawood, and Harry E. Dechant, Hays; two sisters, Peggy Norris, Russell, and Rosie Giesick, WaKeeney; and her grandchildren, Kiera and Max, Simsbury, Conn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Emerald, LaVerne and Donnie Dechant; and four sisters, Bernice Shaffer, Annie Meder, Delores Dechant and Carol Werth.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.

A combined vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to the Padre Pio Foundation of America, or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in her name
