Neither of the Thomas More Prep-Marian softball team's two games against Ellinwood Thursday went the distance at TMP Field.
Despite playing at TMP, Ellinwood remained the home team as the game was moved to TMP earlier in the day.
The Monarchs (8-4) put up a seven spot in the top of the first in Game 1 and rode the big opening inning to a 17-2 win in five innings.
Sophomore Bailey Lacy pitched a one-hitter and struck out 10 in the game. Alison Helget plated a team-high four runs, while Brianna Romme and Meagan Brin added two apiece.
After a five-inning game in the opener, the Monarchs only needed three innings to beat Ellinwood, 20-2.
The Monarchs scored four times in the first before adding nine and seven runs in the second and third, respectively.
Helget struck out five in three innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
Lacy plated three runs in the second game of the day, while Helget and Anna Gottschalk drove in two apiece.
Monarch softball returns to action on Tuesday at home against Goodland.
