Mary (Knehr) Younger, 72, Hays, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, in a motor-vehicle accident near Ardmore, Okla.
She was born Nov. 30, 1943, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Sidney and Marguerite (Powers) Knehr. She earned her high school diploma from Saints Peter and Paul High School in Sandusky in 1961.
She married Francis “Frank” Younger on Oct. 19, 1974. They moved to Hays and had a son June 17, 1986. She worked at the Hallmark store in the mall from 1976 to 2000.
She enjoyed being a wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Hays; a brother, Larry Knehr and wife, Lucy, Clyde, Ohio; six nephews; three nieces; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, who died with her; her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Paul Kirk.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
A combined vigil/rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church.
