Ruby Adina (Steitz) Krug Shank, 91, La Crosse, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Arbor Hills Memory Care, Plano, Texas.
She was born June 10, 1924, north of Otis, to Jake and Elizabeth (Wilhelm) Steitz. She was a 1943 graduate of Bison High School.
She married Marvin E. Krug on Sept. 1, 1946, in Otis. He preceded her in death June 21, 1992. She later married Lee Shank on Jan. 2, 1997, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 2011. She was a lifetime resident of La Crosse, she and Marvin operated a liquor store for 32 years and farmed. She was a clerk in two grocery stores, on the First Lutheran Church Council, past President of the American Legion and was best known as a seamstress for many years.
She enjoyed helping wherever she was needed, such as Rush County Election board, Meals on Wheels and the Kansas Barb Wire Museum and was a member of the First Lutheran Church, La Crosse.
Survivors include a son, Rod Krug and wife, Viola, Judsonia, Ark.; a daughter, Sharon Hutchison and husband, Jeff, Frisco, Texas; a brother, Maynard Steitz, La Crosse; a sister, Wilma Steadman and husband, Bill, Great Bend; two sister-in-laws, Mary Steitz, La Crosse, and Beverly Steitz, Elkhardt; four grandchildren, Brooke Moncrief and husband, Mark, Allen, Texas, Kyle Hutchison, San Jose, Calif., Angela Ruddel, Judsonia, and Rush Krug and wife, Elecia, Searcy, Ark.; six great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Dennis Shank and wife, Gaylene, Goodland, Duane Shank, Stillwater, Okla., and Dale Shank and wife, Lorrie, Leavenworth; a step-daughter, Deanne Ficken and husband, John, Bison; 15 step-grandchildren; 24 great-step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Leona; four brothers, Victor, Eberhardt, Reinhold and Leland Steitz; and two sisters, Verneta Healzer and Leona Keil.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, La Crosse; burial in La Crosse City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse and from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the church.
