DODGE CITY -- The Hays Larks snapped a four-game losing skid with a 12-4 win against Dodge City on Wednesday night at Cavalier Field.
After losing to the A's, 12-1 on Tuesday, the Larks blasted out a season-high 21 hits, including six doubles, and moved their record to 11-6 overall and 8-8 in Jayhawk League play. Dodge City fell to 9-11, 4-11 in league play.
Ty Detmer finished 2 for 4 with a home run, and two RBIs, while Tyler Leffler finished 4 for 6 with an RBI. Seven different Larks recorded at least two hits. Aaron Cornell was 2 for 6, Michael Burns 3 for 6, Cooper Langley 3 for 4 (three RBIs), Zair Koeiman 2 for 5.
Blake Roley made his Larks debut to pick up the victory in six innings. He grave up three runs (two earned) on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Spencer Applebach and D.J. Carr combined the other three innings in relief.
Hays hosts a non-league game at 7 p.m. today at Larks Park against the Boulder (Colo.) Collegians. The Larks then host El Dorado in a three-game set Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Larks Park. Saturday is Larkstoberfest/Old-Timers' Night, and Sunday is Military Appreciation Night.
