Lois M. McLeish, 86, Ness City, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Altamont to Howard and Ethel (Hauck) Billington. She attended Kansas State University and Fort Hays State College where she received her degrees.

She married Thomas Edwin McLeish in 1950. She moved to their farm in rural Beeler. She taught English and Home Economics at Beeler High School until 1966 then began teaching Home Economics at Ness High School until she retired in the early 1990s.

She was a member of Clovia House, United Methodist Church, PEO and several other organizations.

She enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them to cook and sew, playing cards with friends, bowling and traveling. While in the Beeler community she was involved in most of the local activities and EHU. In 2006, she moved to Ness City. She continued playing cards, socializing and volunteering at the thrift store and spending time with and catching up on all of her former students, in which she took great pride.

Survivors include two sons: Bill McLeish and Annette Speer, Ness City, and Ed McLeish, Stafford; and three grandchildren, Amanda McLeish, Fairway, Lindy McLeish Bridgewater and husband, Monte, Mission Viejo, Calif., and Justin McLeish, Stafford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Juanita Johnson Payne.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. June 30 at the United Methodist Church, Ness City; burial in the Ness City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Ness City Leisure Center.
