MANHATTAN The Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC) has extended the deadline for the Harold Mertz Memorial Scholarship application to April 15. The scholarship is open to all Kansas teachers interested in attending the inaugural KFAC summer conference and covers the full cost of registration.

The scholarship was established in honor of longtime KFAC supporter Harold Mertz, formerly of Zeandale. It covers the cost of registration for 30 Kansas teachers to attend the 2016 conference in Salina.

The conference is open to all Kansas K-12 teachers and county agricultural program volunteers. The event is June 2 at the Salina Bicentennial Center in Salina. Registration is $65 until April 20. Besides hands-on workshops, the conference will have guest speakers Dr. Monte Selby and the Peterson Farm Brothers. All teachers who attend will receive professional development hours.
