Amy Choitz, RN, BSN, CCRP, and Macy Linn, MS, CCRP, recently earned certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional, exclusively for cardiac rehabilitation professionals, is the only certification aligned with the published CR competencies. The exam required for certification is based on nation-wide standards and assesses proficiency in a variety of areas including, patient assessment, nutrition management, weight management, blood pressure management, blood lipid management, diabetes management, tobacco cessation, psychosocial management, physical activity counseling and exercise training. Choitz is the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation clinical coordinator at HaysMed and has been at HaysMed for 22 years. Linn is an exercise physiologist and has been with HaysMed for three years.

Mark Lowry with Heritage Insurance Group recently completed the Growing Rural Businesses Entrepreneurial Certificate program through Wichita State University. The semester-long program was hosted by Phillips County Economic Development at the Huck Boyd Center in Phillipsburg. The program is designed to provide participants with information on the latest business principles and examples necessary for today’s rural communities. Topics ranged from management and marketing to finances and creating value for customers. Professors and instructors from Wichita State led the sessions and provided valuable insight and knowledge about how to start and grow businesses in rural communities.
