Johnny Ray “Big John” Meier, 64, Catharine, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at his home.

He was born April 18, 1957 in Hoxie, the youngest of five children of John and Lydia (Werth) Meier. He was the owner and operator of Big John’s Saloon, a business he always dreamed of owning. Big John was a compassionate man, known for helping others, and enjoyed talking with people at his saloon.

Survivors include his mother; Lydia Meier of Hays, three sisters; Dorothy Ochs (Billy), Betty A. Wolf, and Carol Joy (Frank), all of Hays, a son,Dustin Hansen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; John Meier, one sister; Mary Lou Rodgers, and a brother-in-law; Allen Wolf.

Funeral services were held on10:00 am on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Hays Memorial Chapel Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.

A mass will be celebrated in his memory on April 23, 2022 at 2P, St. Martins of Tours Catholic Church in Seguin, KS.
