Betty Jean Susan (Dreiling) Ellis Madison, 76, Ransom, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Rhode Island Suites, Ransom.
She was born Aug. 13, 1939, in Ellis, to Richard Dale and Barbara Rose (Pfeifer) Dreiling. She attended St. Marys Catholic school in Ellis.
She married Robert Dale Ellis in 1958 in Ellis. He preceded her in death July 1, 1991. She later married Donald Paul Madison on Feb. 15, 1985, in Utica. The couple made their home in Blue Springs, Mo., until 2005 when they moved to Ransom to be close to her children. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2013.
She was a member of Saint Marys Catholic Church, Ellis.
She enjoyed her family, sharing many memories and making new ones with each visit. Her family photographs and holiday greetings were always proudly displayed in her suite. She had several collections of angels, crosses, and kittens that were among her favorites.
Survivors include two sons, Dwain D. Ellis and Daniel F. Ellis, both of Ellis; four daughters, Betty S. Harris and husband, Tom, Chanute, Maureen D. Ellis Hartman Phillips, Russell, Sirena Ellis Schneider and husband, Michael, WaKeeney, and Kimberly A. Ellis Rider, Ransom; four brothers, Ralph, Harry and wife, Debra, and Clarence and wife, Diane, all of Hays, and Leroy, Lyons; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arthur; a son, Richard.
Her family gathered for a celebration of her life Saturday at St. Marys Catholic Church, Ellis.
An inurnment of ashes will complete her wishes and be placed with Donald’s in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, WaKenney.
Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601, is in charge of arrangements.
