SALINA -- The Hays High School girls' golf team took third out of 11 teams Tuesday at the Salina South Invitational, played at Salina's Municipal Golf Course.
The Indians shot a four-player score of 354, falling short of Goddard-Eisenhowers's 349 and first-place Manhattan's 344. Also competing out of the WAC were Dodge City (fourth, 398) and Great Bend (sixth, 409).
Hays High had four of its golfers finish in the top 10 to medal, led by Katie Brungardt's 18-hole score of 86 for sixth place. Taylor DeBoer shot 87 for eighth, Lexie Schaben 90 for ninth, and Rhian Patterson 91 for 10th.
Also competing for Hays High were Elissa Jensen (96 for 18th place), Summer Smith (99 for 24th place) and Macie Mayo (107 for 38th place).
Goddard-Eisenhower's Makenna Mucciaccio won the tournament with a 6-over-par 76. Manhattan's duo of Macie Meyer (81) and Kelsey McCarthy (83) followed to finish second and third, respectively.
Hays High will jump back into WAC action on Thursday with a trip to Liberal, the fourth of five WAC meets to decide the conference title.
