WAIANAE, Hawaii (AP) - A wildfire that scorched 25 acres in Waianae is under control. Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig says the fire along Lualualei Homestead Road started on fallow land bordering agricultural lots at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday. He says firefighters brought the blaze under by 5:45 p.m. There was no property damage but flames reached a basil farm. Seelig says he didn't know the extent of crop damage. Fighting the fire involved about 60 firefighters, four water tankers and a helicopter. The Federal Fire Department helped with a tanker and a brush truck. Seelig says it's not clear what caused the fire.
