Salina police are investigating a series of garage burglaries that occurred in south Salina over the weekend, a Salina Police Department spokesman said.

At one home in the 1300 block of Lakeview Drive, Dale Geir noticed damage to the knob of the door leading to his garage before opening it and discovering a person wearing black clothing standing next to the door about 8 a.m. Sunday, said Capt. Mike Sweeney.

The person, described as small in stature, ran east from the garage, Sweeney said. Damage to the door knob was estimated at $25. No loss was reported.

Other garage burglaries included:

-- A debit card and credit card belonging to Randy Baldwin were taken from a pickup truck parked in an attached garage in a house in the 1400 block of Teton Lane between 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday; estimated loss $10.

-- A teal and grey cruiser style bicycle belonging to Kong Vongphakey was taken from an attached garage in the 2400 block of Pinnacle Drive during the same time period; estimated loss $120.

-- Two Sunflower Bank checkbooks and an envelope containing cash belonging to Lucas Scott were stolen and a door knob was damaged at a garage in the 1400 block of Lakeview Drive between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday; estimated loss $4,800.

-- Door knob damaged on a door leading to a garage belonging to Pesha Ptacek in the 2500 block of Pinnacle Drive during the same time frame; estimated damage $25.
