Earl LeRoy Sunley, 77, rural Hays, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Hays to Paul L. and Hazel B. (Feitz) Sunley. He was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays. He later went to technical school in Kansas City and graduated in electronics repair.

He married Elaine Frances Hammerschmidt on Sept. 3, 1962, in Hays. She preceded him in death April 23, 2014. He owned and operated Earl’s TV service in Hays and was a farmer, cattleman and an oilfield pumper.

He was a member of the St. Anthony Council No. 4166 Third Degree Knights of Columbus in Schoenchen and a past grand knight.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and caring for his cattle.

Survivors include five sons, Kevin Sunley, Aventura, Fla., Steve Sunley and wife, Kerri, Hays, Brian Sunley and wife, Helena, Salina, and Eric Sunley and Duane Sunley, both of Hays; a daughter, Pam Cain, Topeka; a sister, JoAnn Curtin and husband, Larry, Atwood; six grandchildren, Kayla Urban and husband, Joe, Brady Sunley, Noah Sunley, Kelsey Cain, Jonathan Sunley, Krystina Sunley and Kinzie Sunley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandra Marie, in 1953.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS, 67601; burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Antonino.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday, both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
