TOPEKA -- The Fort Hays State University baseball team split its series with Washburn University on the road Friday and Saturday with a pair of doubleheader splits.

On Friday, FHSU snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 7-3 win in Game 1, then fell in the nightcap 8-3.

On Saturday, FHSU dropped Game 1, 7-6 in eight innings, then rebounded with a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

The split puts Fort Hays at 5-14 overall and 4-12 in MIAA play.

The Tigers are at home for 10 straight games through the next two weeks.

FHSU hosts Tabor College on Tuesday, then takes on Northwest Missouri State Unviersity in a four-game set Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Larks Park. Tuesday's single game time is 4 p.m. Friday's MIAA series opener is slated for 5 p.m.
