Wayne Murrey Pierson, 81, Derby, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
He was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Wenatchee, Wash., to Glen and Juanita Pierson. He was a 1952 graduate of Jewell High School.
He spent several years as a truck driver. For many years he was a volunteer at the Sternberg Museum, Hays. He served in the Korean War as a corpsman and was in the Navy for seven years. Survivors include two sons, Micheal Pierson and wife, Kristi, Derby, and Scott Pierson, Osborne; a daughter, Angie Becker and husband, Tim, Salina; two grandchildren, Kaleigh Kurowski and husband, Dan, Greenwood, Mo., and Keaton Becker, Salina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Waldo Pierson and Richard Pierson.
