HAYS -- Voting ends Christmas Day for a $1,000 grant giveaway by Lang Diesel Inc., with an effort to provide playground equipment at Hillsboro Elementary leading more than a dozen organizations vying for the cash.
Residents are invited to vote for their favorite cause or organization before midnight Christmas by visiting http://bit.ly/1vNLkXz, or the LDI Facebook page. Each Facebook user is limited to one vote per day.
As of Monday, the Hillsboro elementary playground had garnered 540 votes, followed by Hands of Hope Animal Rescue in Great Bend with 250.
Other registered participants include: Mid-America Land Restoration, Hays; DSNWK, Hays; Trego Hospital Endowment, WaKeeney; Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Hays; Healing Hands Ranch, Ellinwood; The Tot playground in Great Bend's Brit Spaugh Park; the Cancer Council of Ellis County; Bits N Spurs 4-H of Ellis County; Hays Girl Scouts; Smith County Community Foundation; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ellis County; First Call for Help of Ellis County; Friends of the Hays Dog Park; Hays Area Children's Center; the Thomas County Community Foundation; United Way of Ellis County; Hays 4-H; and CASA of Hays.
Lang Diesel Inc., headquartered in Hays, has a dozen locations, including Ellinwood, Hillsboro, Garden City, Dodge City and South Hutchinson.
