Thelma Oenita Cooper Gantz, 92, Ness City, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Cedar Village, Ness City.

She was born May 6, 1923, in New Nata, Ark., to W.W. and Leona (Avey) Cooper.

She married Robert Gantz on April 9, 1952, in Ness City. She was a high school English teacher and drama coach, an author, and a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Ness County Bank Building Foundation, both of Ness City.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary Gantz and wife, Jodi, Ness City; and two daughters, Paula Ripple and husband, Dr. David, Dodge City, and Ann Matz and husband, Kurt, Phoenix; seven grandchildren, Zachary and Cody Matz, Wade, Colby, and Dalton Gantz, Jacob Ripple, and Shelley Rodriguez; and a great-granddaughter, Adi.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman Cooper and Grady Cooper; and three sisters, Loys Ballard, Genevra Burke, and Malva Sively.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Ness City; burial in Ness City Cemetery.

Friends can call until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or Ness County Bank Building Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
