Local NRCS members recognized

Area members of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service of Kansas recently received three national volunteer awards.

The awards include Earth Team Employee, Earth Team Volunteer Coordinator and the Earth Team Kansas Association of Conservation Districts/National Association of Conservation Districts.

Bernadette Luncsford, district conservationist in St. Francis, received the earth team employee award for commitment and contributions to the program. Her area was able to utilize 134 volunteers for 999 hours.

Toni Flax, rangeland management specialist in Hill City, was named an earth team volunteer coordinator for nine management units in Kansas and for 27 offices.

She volunteers as a 4-H Leader for the Graham County Rangeland and Soils project.
