Fort Hays State's men's and women's cross country teams placed fourth and second, respectively, at the Border Challenge in Johnson Friday.
The Tigers' five female runners finished in order from fourth to eighth place. Freshman Sophie Dalmasso led the group with a time of 14:33.4. Junior Micki Krzesinski finished roughly 10 second later in fifth place.
Chelsea Jackson (14:49.7), Amanda Morgan (14:55.5), and Shea Bonine (15:03.8) rounded out the team score with top eight finishes.
CSU-Pueblo won the team title with 26 points to the Tigers' 30. The Thunderwolves had the top three individual runners.
On the men's side, the Tigers' Cory Keehn finished it 8K course in fourth place with a time of 15:18.6. Troy Wineinger (16:10.5), and Israel Barco (16:16.2) placed 14th and 15th, respectively.
Feysel Rahmeto (16:22.8) finished in 17th place, while Jacob Thomas (16:24.2) finished right behind.
West Texas A&M won the meet with 39 points. The Tigers finished with 68 points.
Both teams return to action at the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 26 in Stillwater, Okla.
