Lawrence L. Flax, 90, Dodge City, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham.

He was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Arnold to Gotfred and Catherine (Weber) Flax. He attended Lone Star Country School.

He married Betty Hoffman on Aug. 5, 1960, in Victoria. He farmed near Ransom until 1970 when he moved to Dodge City. He owned and operated South Dodge Office Equipment where he cleaned and repaired thousands of typewriters throughout southwest Kansas. He retired in 2005 and moved to Hilltop Manor in 2009.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Knights of Columbus Council 2955, both in Dodge City.

Survivors include: his wife, Dodge City; a son, Godfrey and wife, LaShaina, Dodge City; two brothers, Leonard Flax and wife, Irene, Wright, and Father Myron Flax, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Sister MaryAnne Flax, Lexington, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Lori Flax, Hatton, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kendra Flax, Brittany Flax, Daytona Flax, Justice Flax, KaBrena (Flax) Alexander, and Ecco (Flax) Keener; and six great-grandchildren, Kayden Pope, Nathanial Lollar, Kaeley Alexander, Madeline Flax, Kierah Johnson and Jonathan Keener.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lawrence “Junior” Flax; two brothers, Eugene, Ignatius and Herman Flax; and two sisters, Rose Flax and Helen Schuler.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City; burial in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.

Visitation will be until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

A vigil followed by Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, both at the funeral chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in care of the funeral chapel.
