Esther Elizabeth Gribben, 94, Hays, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was born May 31, 1922, in Salina to Henry and Anna (Stevens) Wolfson. She was a 1940 graduate of Salina High School.
She married Ralph Gribben on Jan. 4, 1943, in Denver. He preceded her in death March 23, 2000. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, Christian Mothers and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, where she served as past local president, department color bearer and past district commander.
Survivors include a son, Bernie Gribben, Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Carolyn Bartelt and husband, Don, Joliet, Ill., and Marsha Erickson and husband, Dick, Everett, Wash.; a sister, Helen Wolfson, Salina; nine grandchildren, Heather Kay, Casey Gribben, Adam Gribben, Anna Peery, Allison Dwyer, Joel Bartelt, Elizabeth Bartelt, Ryan Erickson and Matt Erickson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Cliff Wolfson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, both at Brockís-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601.
A VFW Auxiliary prayer service will be at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, followed by a combined Daughters of Isabella and VFW Auxiliary rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m., all at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the donorís choice in care of the funeral chapel.
