Alice V. Honas, 88, Ellis, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society, Ellis.
She was born May 5, 1926, in Severin to August and Anna (Miller) Schmeidler. She was a 1944 graduate of Girl's Catholic High.
She married Clarence V. Honas on June 2, 1948, in Severin. He preceded her in death June 13, 2006.
She was a homemaker and business partner with her husband with C.V. Honas Lathing and Plastering. She also worked for the election board in Ellis for many years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was a seamstress and cook who took pride in her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Virginia Mae Finneran, Fremont, Calif., Charlene Wilson and husband, Scott, Topeka, Darlene Chaput and husband, Jerry, Oakley, Diane Kuhn and husband, Pat, Ellis; a son, Randy Honas and wife, Wendy, Ellis; two brothers, Edward and Norman Schmeidler, both of Hays; a sister, Rita Schmeidler, Hays; 12 grandchildren, Clara Finneran, Maureen Finneran, Kathryn Krueger, Derek Wilson, Jenny Unger, Jera Potter, Allison Chaput, Victoria Goetz, Amanda Shannon, Anna Kuhn, Taylor, Samuel and Toby Honas; and 13 great- grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas and Grace Janson, Roman Wilson, Nicholas Aherns, Hudson and Leah Potter, Owen Goetz, Taegan and Lane Shannon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Pancratius, Jerome and Leo Schmeidler; three sisters, Severina Lang, Margaret Bittel and Frances Schmeidler; a granddaughter, Nichole Diane Kuhn; and a great-grandson, Kaden Lee Shannon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ellis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th Ellis, KS 67637.
A vigil/rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Church, Thomas More Prep-Marian High School or Capuchin Province of Mid-America, in care of the funeral home.
