FHSU and Kansas Community Colleges announce new guaranteed admission program in school and clinical psychology

Fort Hays State University President Tisa Mason and Kansas Association of Community Colleges Director Heather Morgan were joined today by the presidents and representatives from Kansas’s network of 19 community colleges to officially sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a new guaranteed admission pathway from a two-year associate’s degree to FHSU’s bachelor’s degree programs in either clinical or school psychology. A unique feature of this pathway program is that the guarantee of acceptance extends through the master’s degree level in both the clinical psychology and school psychology programs as long as the student meets specific grade point average requirements.

Unanimous BOE consensus to take a "No Cell Phones" stance at USD489 next year

According to USD489 Board of Education Vice President Jayme Goetz, following discussion at the Feb. 3, 2025, BOE Work Session of the Kansas State Board of Education’s (KSBE’s) Blue Ribbon Task Force on Student Screen Time Report, reached a unanimous consensus that the district’s overall stance and goal is going to be no cell phones next year.

Tree Health

Many of my most recent home visits have been centered around tree health and subsequently around trees experiencing dieback or death from drought stress. The past several years has been very dry and it typically it takes a few years for a tree to show stress from an event.
