After being asked what his dream endeavor would be years ago, Shaun Musil shared that he wanted to own a business, specifically one similar to the existing Paisley Pear. Shortly after, the previous owner reached out and offered to sell making Shaun’s dream a reality.

Conversation created through cups of coffee, this is the foundation laid out by Patrick McGinnis, owner of Breathe Coffee House. McGinnis always felt called towards making change, working in ministry he took on many different roles throughout Hays.

In one of his first interviews in Hays, Michael Huskey was asked what he wanted to get out of working at a fast food restaurant. In his early twenties, just looking to make some extra money, “For whatever reason I told him that I wanted to open a restaurant some day.” In a smug, ‘yeah right’ kind of tone, Huskey was told “good luck”.

As students, we study hard, spending late nights in the library testing our mental capacity so that we can build a solid foundation for our future. We go on ramen diets, budgeting around the cost of books, rent and tuition, all so that we can earn the job of our dreams.

After years of working alongside her mother, Brianne Sultzer decided to take a risk on her own boutique. Seeing the success of Mam’Zelles in its 30 years of business, Sultzer felt more compelled than ever to follow in her mothers footsteps.

After graduating from Hays Academy, she knew she wanted to make it big in the cosmetology world. From salons throughout Kansas City and Florida, Beatrice Adame has opened the salon of her dreams, right where she always felt she belonged.
