Dear Amy: I have been married to the same man for 52 years. Thirty-six years ago, I had a child, who is a product of an affair.

DEAR DR. ROACH: I have several family members with autoimmune diseases. I read about a study from Germany where people with lupus were treated with CAR T cells, which proved effective. Will this treatment be available for other autoimmune diseases? -- R.C.
Q: I’ve lost 25 pounds by changing my eating habits, but I still have a pouch of belly fat that won’t go away. How can I get a flatter torso? Greg F., Fort Collins, Colorado A: When you are overweight or obese, there’s a good chance that you have added what’s called visceral fat around your internal organs.
DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 73-year-old male. This year, I had a colonoscopy. They found some small polyps and one larger polyp. All polyps tested negative for cancer. I have had two previous colonoscopies in the past 10 years. Polyps were found in each one. My gastroenterologist said I should have another colonoscopy in one year. There has been no colon cancer in my family.
Dear Amy: My husband, “Don,” battled substance abuse and addictions, major depression, anxiety, and severe sleep apnea. Don and I also had relationship issues, much like any other married couple after 20 years of marriage.
The closing days of the Kansas House campaign for the 111th District should be focused on the major concerns of the citizens – inflation and the future of the district’s economy. DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 76-year-old male. A few months ago, I suddenly had the worst pain in my life, centered in the right side of my tongue, of all places. It felt like a live electrical wire was touching my tongue. It was excruciating. I had been to a dentist the week before, but only to have the covering replaced on an implant crown. There was no injection or anesthesia needed. Could I have opened my mouth a little too wide and injured a nerve?
Dear Amy: I’m hoping you can shed some light on this subject. Is there any justification or logical reasoning behind some of these new parenting trends, specifically one that grants basically full autonomy to a toddler to make his or her own decisions? One that is particularly irksome is letting said toddler choose whether or not they want to hug an immediate family member.
A hug when I come home after a long day. A smile that melts my heart. A song and a dance that are spontaneous and carefree. Those are some of the blessings that come to mind when I think about my daughter.
Dear Amy: I think I was scammed! As a divorced 62-year-old woman on a fixed income, I recently hired someone to fix plumbing damage to my house that insurance wouldn’t cover. His bid was substantially lower, and he could start the next day. He asked for half down so I sent him 50 percent ($300) through an online payment system.
