DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 55-year-old male in good health and was diagnosed with a slightly enlarged prostate several years ago. My primary care doctor said he wasn’t concerned enough to prescribe any medications. I get an annual physical, and there haven’t been any changes. However, in the past couple of years, there have been times when, once I get the urge to urinate, I’ve got to get to a restroom posthaste. But it’s comical at times! Once, I was halfway through a three-hour road trip and started thinking I should stop. I made it all the way home without a problem, but couldn’t make it from my driveway to the restroom. I read up on Flomax, which appears to be for those who have trouble urinating. Are you aware of any over-the-counter medications for my situation? -- R.J.
Dear Readers, All I wanted to do was pick some flowers. This summer’s been so hot I’ve mostly enjoyed wild blooms from afar, through the windows an air-conditioned house or car. So when my phone’s weather app claimed it was only 73 degrees outside and our yard was blanketed in soft light filtered by a cloud cover, I thought “At last, here’s my chance!” Plus for the first time in weeks, I could take a stroll down my favorite path along our back pasture, the one that winds along the trees lining the creek.
Dear Amy: What is the proper way to handle being matched on a dating site with someone you’ve previously met in person? I am 51, professionally successful, and single. I recently matched online with a man I met through a networking opportunity a few years ago.
