Early voting in progress

County Clerk Bobbi Dreiling wants to remind everyone that Early Voting is currently in progress at the Administrative Center at 718 Main. Early voting will continue the week of July 29 through Monday August 5th at Noon. Saturday Early Voting will also be available on August 3rd from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. The last day to request an advance mail ballot is Tuesday, July 30th. Election day for the Primary Election is Tuesday, August 6th at your regular polling place. If you have any questions please contact the County Clerk Dreiling at 785-628-9410 or stop by at the Administrative Center 718 Main Street.

FHSU professor named American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation's Inspirational Geoscience Educator

Dr. Henry Agbogun, assistant professor of geosciences/geology, will be presented with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Foundation’s Inspirational Geoscience Educator Award in August at the International Meeting for Applied Geoscience & Energy meeting in Houston.

Kansas maternal health care deserts mean hardships on mothers, communities and providers

Thirteen counties in Kansas ceased to offer obstetric care services from 2013 to 2023 — a statistic that points to a shrinking availability of maternal care in Kansas, the lack of which can cause poor outcomes in pregnancy and delivery, overburdened hospitals and long drives for women seeking adequate care.

Strategic affiliation partners secure major grant funding

Fort Hays State University, North Central Kansas Technical College, and Northwest Kansas Technical College recently secured a $461,840 grant from Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) to help fund start-up costs associated with the implementation of the three institutions’ strategic affiliation. Grant funding will be distributed over the next two years.
