A federal judge has ruled Dodge City’s five-decade-old election system does not unfairly suppress Latino voter choices and can remain in place, rejecting arguments from the American Civil Liberties Union and others.

County Commissioners voted unanimously on July 9, 2024 to increase landfill fees, effective Jan. 1, 2025. Fees for Municipal Landfill Waste disposal will increase $7 per ton (from $83 to $90 per ton.) Construction & Demolition Debris disposal fees will go up $5 per ton (from $45 to $50 per ton.) And the Tire Disposal Rate will increase $30 per ton (from $270 to $300 per ton.) No increases were made for rates for Clean Rubble, Trees & Branches, White Goods, Tagged and Untagged Appliances.

During the July 1, 2024 Ellis City Council meeting, Mayor David McDaniel announced Tammy Horesky’s resignation, due to personal reasons, from the City’s Public Library Board. He stated that he would like to appoint the second applicant, former City Council member Tricia Pritchett, to fill the vacancy. The Council unanimously approved Mayor McDaniel’s recommendation.
The Kansas Department of Administration’s procurement director rejected complaints submitted by Aetna Better Health and CareSource Kansas that alleged misconduct in selection of three managed-care companies to operate the state’s $4 billion Medicaid program.
