Ellis tables Highland TIF Project contracts

During the July 1, 2024 Ellis City Council meeting, members by consensus tabled consideration of the Hess Services, Inc. Developer Contract and Bid Sheet for the Highland Tax Increment Financing [TIF] Project. City Administrator/Clerk Amy Burton reported to the Council that Hess’s updated proposal, which was provided to the City shortly before 5 p.m. on 7/1/24, estimates the cost of the 12 lot project to $957,993.

Ellis accepting applications for Police Officer

On July 1, 2024 Ellis City Council authorized Police Chief Avery Smith to begin the hiring process to fill the vacancy resulting from Officer Colin Pritchett’s resignation from the Ellis Police Department. Officer Pritchett has subsequently accepted a position with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department. Chief Smith reminded the Council a ballistic vest and carrier was purchased for Officer Pritchett in Apr. 2024. He relayed that the County was willing to purchase these items from the City. Council unanimously approved the sale of Officer Pritchett’s ballistic vest and carrier to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department for $1,379.
