How much will Ellis County property taxes increase next year? That’s the big question following the July 8, 2025 Ellis County Commission Meeting which included a discussion of raising the 2026 mill levy an additional one to two mills over Budget in a “proactive” move. No decisions were made; however, by statute the Commission must decide at next week’s meeting on exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR).

On July 1, 2025 Ellis County Commissioners unanimously approved an overall restructuring of the Public Works (PW) Department with aim to more efficiently track more efficiently track road maintenance and road issues, plan for future projects, and better serve the public and County employees.
