South side closure of 33rd St (between Willow & Vine St.) begins June 4thThe City announced on June 2, 2025 that beginning Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the South side of 33rd Street between Willow and Vine Streets will be closed to through traffic road replacement. It is anticipated that this shut down will be until the project’s expected completion in September 2025.

USD489 on pace to pay off Bond early

According to USD489 Board of Education (BOE) President Curt Vajnar and Vice President Jayme Goetz, the BOE devoted a third of its three hour long Mar. 3, 2025 Work Session to a discussion of the Bond and Interest Payments Cash Flow with Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Chris Hipp and, via Zoom, Piper Sandler Co-Head of Public Finance Dustin Avey, who told the BOE that the District is on pace to pay off the Bond early.

Fuel shortages in western Kansas slowly abating as transport, maintenance issues fixed

TOPEKA — Multiple factors merged to create a fuel shortage affecting western Kansas and three other Midwest states, and one expert expects it to take months for fuel storage capacity to return to normal. Brian Posler, executive director of Fuel True, said the complex system that maintains fuel stores to avoid shortages was hit by several unusual events this year.
