Upland bird season opens in Kansas

Statewide pheasant and quail season opened Saturday morning, with the drought still affecting Kansans into the winter months. According to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, there are two main factors that impact the availability of upland game during the fall hunting season: the number of breeding adults in the spring and the reproductive success of the breeding population.
