The Board of Directors for The Bricks in Downtown Hays announces the cancellation of the 2025 Brews on the Bricks event, originally scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025. This decision, while difficult, comes during a period of organizational transition as we begin the search for our next executive director.
Madison Hanzlick has known for many years that she wanted to go into nursing, and this weekend she will see the culmination of her years of hard work and determination pay off when she receives her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Fort Hays State University during the FHSU spring commencement event. Originally from Hoisington, Madison graduated from high school, moved to Hays, and began to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse in 2017.

Water violation numbers are on the rise, a dramatic increase over the last five years, in large part due to an addition to the Hays Police Department's year-round responsibilities to enforce City ordinances aimed at water conservation. According to Hays Police Lieutenant Brandon Wright, water enforcement is one of the Community Service Officers priorities.
